Sustainable Sikkim Presents... Journey to New Kalapa... the First Comic Book About the Climate Crisis!
Our story is about a little girl named Karma and a red panda named Pandero. They meet in the forests of Sikkim as strangers, but soon find themselves united as heroes to help us all find a way forward in the Age of the Climate Crisis.
The Sustainable Sikkim Project is a set of initiatives created to help guide Sikkim, India, and the world through a future challenged by global heating and more. These include innovations in architecture, agriculture, renewable energy, waste management, transportation, and the creation of eco-villages like New Kalapa, plus educational outreach via the Sustainable Sikkim Bulletin, the Sustainable Sikkim Guide to the Climate Crisis, and Journey to New Kalapa. New Kalapa is the name for a new eco-village being created by the Sustainable Sikkim team and partners as a prototype for how to live more sustainably and comfortably as the climate crisis grows. For further information on that, please visit NewKalapa.in.
The Climate Crisis is the name for what is happening to our planet after over 100 years of steadily increasing fossil fuel emissions. As atmospheric carbon dioxide concentrations have reached record levels, so too have average worldwide temperatures and a complex array of natural phenomena caused by global heating. The Crisis is transforming nature and our world.
